  14. DESCRIPTION

  16. Splitty enables you to split large files into smaller ones that 
  17. can be regrouped later to reconstitute the original file.  It is 
  18. particularly useful for sending large files over unreliable 
  19. networks, and for saving large files to floppy disks or other 
  20. modest storage media.

  23. RELEASE NOTES

  25. Starting with v1.6, the master split file (*.fsm) is written out 
  26. before the split files (*.fss).  This way, removable storage media, 
  27. such as floppy disks, are inserted in the same sequence during both 
  28. split and merge operations.

  33. - v1.7  on 1998-11-13: Added the ability to set the size of split 
  34.   files to use all available disk space in the destination folder.
  35. - v1.6  on 1998-04-22: Enhanced the user interface for removable media, 
  36.   added support for disk partitions larger than 4GB where available 
  37.   (NT, Win95-OSR2, or later), and other minor adjustments.
  38. - v1.51 on 1997-12-12: Now supports NT v3.51 and possibly earlier 
  39.   versions.
  40. - v1.5  on 1997-06-16: Updated installation procedure and package 
  41.   information, added support for floppy disk operations, split files 
  42.   verification, and enhanced data validation (although there haven't 
  43.   been any complaints).

  47. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  50. - Enough free disk space to accommodate the software (less than 0.5MB).

  60. INSTALLATION

  62. Close the application if it is currently running, then run the 
  63. SetupSplitty.exe file and follow the instructions.

  68. Close the application if it is currently running, then install 
  69. the new version on top of the old one, unless otherwise specified 
  70. in this file.

  73. UNINSTALLATION

  75. Close the application if it is currently running.  Click the Windows 
  76. "Start" button, and select "Settings", then "Control Panel".  
  77. Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs item".  Proceed by 
  78. double-clicking the line corresponding to this product and follow 
  79. the instructions.

  81. Note that configuration files, generally with a ".dat" extension, 
  82. and registration files, namely "Registration Form.txt", may be 
  83. created by the application and will not be deleted for your 
  84. convenience in case you wish to refer to them at a later date.  
  85. Delete these files manually if you do not want them.
